While Mr Jobs fights against the "lazy" guys at Adobe, Microsoft has been working on its new phone with it's unique UI. Microsoft Windows Mobile 7 is going to be a punch on Apple's face, as much as the Android has been kicking iPhone's ass recently.
The phone will be released by the end of 2010, perhaps around Christmas. Though Microsoft showed a preview of it in a conference held in Spain, last February. The user interface reminds me of macintosh's System 6 interface, but in blue. It's utterly simple. No bevels, no shadows, no volume. One would say that it's boring, because there's no dimensionality in it. But I think that's quite the opposite. When every interface design tries to be super fancy, with many different colors and shapes, Microsoft's new UI goes to the opposite direction. The deal here is positive and negative space. Blue or white. That's it.
Steve's kingdom has to reinforce its infantry. Things has changed.
